Toilet Overflow Water Damage

Not every toilet overflow is the same. While some overflows involve clean water, many toilet backups quickly become Category 3 (Black Water), which may contain sewage, bacteria, viruses, and other harmful contaminants. Because of these health risks, 360 Water Damage does not perform Category 3 water mitigation or sewage cleanup.

Our company specializes in clean water (Category 1) and many gray water (Category 2) losses, including burst pipes, appliance leaks, water heater failures, refrigerator water line leaks, sump pump failures, and other non-sewage water damage situations.

Why We Don't Perform Sewage Cleanup

Protecting Our Customers Means Knowing Our Limits

Sewage backups and contaminated toilet overflows require specialized biohazard procedures that are significantly different from standard water mitigation. Following industry standards means recognizing when contamination creates health risks that require a different level of response.

Category 3 Water Can Contain

  • Sewage contamination
  • Harmful bacteria
  • Viruses
  • Parasites
  • Human waste
  • Other dangerous contaminants

Why 360 Water Damage Does Not Perform This Work

Category 3 mitigation requires extensive containment, specialized personal protective equipment, decontamination procedures, and equipment sanitation to prevent cross-contamination. Because we serve homes throughout Minnesota, we choose not to perform sewage cleanup to help eliminate the risk of transferring biohazards from one customer's home to another. Instead, we focus exclusively on the clean water and gray water restoration services where we can provide the highest level of expertise and safety.
